The EPO2 project 'Smart Robot Challenge' is dedicated to design and build a wireless controlled robot that can autonomously perform a predefined set of tasks. The basic hardware is available at the beginning of the course, i.e., robot platform, Zigbee modules, battery and optical sensors. The hardware must be extended where necessary to allow the robot to sense and identify various obstacles placed in the tasks to be performed. C programming and VHDL language are employed so that the robot can complete the various challenges and win against other teams robot the final competition.

Upon successful completion of EPO2 project, the student will be able to:

  • Apply a project-based approach to design an electronic system in a project team;
  • Methodologically design a technical solution to a relevant problem within given boundary conditions;
  • Integrate and apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the lecture classes of the first year, in a design project;
  • Actively apply academic skills in order to intentify and acquire missing information and knowledge, systematically analyze problems, motivate choices, critically interpret results.
