Biography

Vidharshana Sivakumar was born in Sri Lanka and grew up in Mississauga, Ontario Canada, doing an undergraduate in biophysics at the University of Toronto with a focus on optics and quantum mechanics. With an interest to diversify himself with experimental work, he decided to explore the world of quantum technology, being a recipient of the 2021 Qutech Scholarship towards the quantum computing and quantum devices masters program at TU Delft. It was here where he did his master thesis under Richard Norte of the precisions and microsystems engineering department in a study to measure and model analytically and numerically the effectiveness of non-linear dynamics of specialized nanostructures to measure the Casimir force. Doing an internship at ASML allowed him to continue exploring large-scale cutting-edge solid-state research, much of which is pivotal to image sensing, which is where he finds himself today. He is currently working as a researcher in the CMOS image sensing group at TU Delft. Given his background he has a diverse range of reserach interests, with a special focus on the following both in theory and experiment.   

  • quantum condensed matter and applications in scalable technology 
  • phase transitions in soft or solid matter systems
